Heavy rain added to Northwest Missouri’s flooding issues and created more problems for local officials.

Overnight, the National Weather Service reported that between St. Joseph and Amity, Mo., about 1.5 inches to 6.5 inches of rain fell. creating conditions for flash flooding. Rosendale and Agency are expected to have some flooding starting today.

Buchanan County emergency management and the Sheriff’s Department are beginning a voluntary evacuation today of Winthrop and Lewis and Clark Village. Deputies will be going door to door this morning, said Sheriff Mike Strong.
