Today, levels on the Missouri River in Chamberlain reached and surpassed the record crest set on May 2, 1997. By 1:30 pm on Friday, June 24, the level recorded by the USGS at Chamberlain was at 1372.23 feet elevation. In one week, the water on Lake Francis Case (the local Missouri River reservoir) has risen by 6 feet.

Sandbagging efforts continue in Oacoma. So far, volunteers helped fill more than 65,000 sandbags to combat a rapidly rising Missouri River, expected to increase a foot by Sunday.
